Membership Categories
Detailed benefits for specific membership categories are listed below.
National Corporate:
The Corporate Membership category is designed for those companies possessing a group of individuals interested in belonging to and participating in the Society of Wine Educators.
Corporate members receive:
- Ten full memberships
- Use of “corporate sponsor of SWE”
- One ½ page complimentary ad on the Society’s on-line Membership Directory
- One complimentary link on the Society’s web site
- A special discount for conference attendees: five percent for the first 10 attendees and 10 percent for eleven employees or more
- Discounts on exhibit space at the annual conference;
- Special discounts on group access to the SWE Wine Academy
- Special discounts on professional development and certification programs
- The opportunity to participate in the Smithsonian Institute’s “Meet the Winemaker” lecture series as a host/lecturer
US ($2,500/year)
Industry:
The Industry and Non-Profit membership categories are designed for any organization that buys, sells or markets wines, or provides other products and services to the wine industry.
Industry members receive:
- One primary membership and four additional memberships that are transferable within the company
- Use of “corporate sponsor of SWE”
- One complimentary link on the SWE web site
- Discounts on exhibit space at the annual conference
- Discounts on group access to the SWE Wine Academy
- Group discounts on professional development and certification programs
- The opportunity to participate in the Smithsonian Institute’s “Meet the Winemaker” lecture series as a host/lecturer

Non-Profit:
Proof of non-profit status must be submitted with membership application.
Non-Profit members receive:
- Two full memberships
- One complimentary link on the SWE web site
(US $250/year)
Full Membership:
This membership category is designed for wine educators, retailers, restaurateurs, hospitality industry professionals, chefs, grape growers, wine makers, wine judges, wine journalists, wine marketing professionals and serious wine hobbyists.
Members receive:
- Full access to the SWE Wine Academy
- Subscription to the Society’s quarterly newsletter, the Chronicle
- Discounts on publications and wine books
- Member pricing for all SWE events and certification programs
- Referrals for those who teach wine classes
(US $125/year)
Associate Membership:
The Associate membership category is designed for bankers, actuaries, coopers, nurseries and purveyors of grape/wine related crafts, booksellers, spouses and non-teaching members.
Associate members receive:
- Subscription to the Society’s quarterly newsletter, the Chronicle
- Discounts on publications and wine books
- Member pricing for all SWE events and certification programs
- Referrals for those who teach wine classes
(US $65/year)
Student Membership:
The student membership category is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a culinary or hospitality curriculum at an accredited college, university or culinary school. Proof of student status is required.
Student members receive:
- Subscription to the Society’s quarterly newsletter, the Chronicle
- Discounts on publications and wine books
- Member pricing for all SWE events and certification programs
